American Whiskey Dissected Wed, October 24th 2012 07:00 PM-08:30 PM
Blanchards West Roxbury When most people think of American Whiskey they think of Bourbon. Bourbon is certainly recognized as the most venerable American spirit but lately, as with craft beer, there has been an explosion in small batch producers and they don't necessarily stick to the classic styles. There has also been a renewed interest in Rye whiskeys, once a staple spirit, now mostly a specialty item but definitely still an American (and Canadian) classic. We will examine several whiskeys in order to get a better idea of what it takes to come up with any given style. We will start with a couple white whiskeys, moving on through some classic styles of Bourbon, to a couple rye whiskeys and finally a 12 year old Pappy Van Winkle. This will be fun, tickets are $25.
