Muga Winery is one of the great wine producers from Spain and all of their wines are special. Importer Jorge Ordonez from Dedham has been bringing wines to the United States since 1987, and this has always been our favorite. It has a classic style of winemaking that they improve upon without changing the basics.
The 2004 white wine is made from 90 percent Viura and ten percent Malvasia. The wine sees four months of Allier oak, but retains the racy fruit that make Spanish whites a great wine for summer and fall. We loved the juicy flavors and fresh herb notes that combine to make a complex and intriguing wine. The Malvasia grape adds a little weight to the wine and the oak is very subtle. This is a versatile wine that pairs well with fish, Asian cuisine, chicken and pork dishes.
