Every once in a while you have to throw caution to the wind and follow your heart or in this case your mouth and heart. There
were many reasons not to choose this wine but it was one of the best white wines we tasted in quite some time. The hard charging
Antonio J Lopes Ribeiro runs Casa de Mouraz, creating this amazing wine. This is not the light slighty, bubbly white wine with
which we are familiar as “typical” Vinho Verde (literally “green” wine in English – for the color of the grapes, of course, not the
wine itself). This is an organic wine with weight, structure and length, that tastes like a wine from Alsace -another region that has
organic vineyards. Mica Vinho Verde is a blend of three indigenous grapes: Loureio, Trajadura and Azal. The Loureiro grape is
very aromatic with high acidity and tastes similar to a young Riesling. Trajadura is a bright grape with a lemony flavor and Azal
is also a light wine with high acidity. Mica has a depth of fruit and freshness that is unlike any other wine we have tasted from
Portugal. It is proof that good winemaking and hard work in the vineyard can make a unique experience. We ask you to try this
wonderful organic wine. It is a great value that would make a beautiful apertif or complement to any salads or seafood dishes.
