Evesham Wood was founded in 1986 by a German winemaker named Russell Raney. After moving to
Oregon’s Eola-Hills he began producing Burgundian and Alsatian varietals from the 13 acre Le Puits
Sec estate vineyard and nearby properties.
Le Puits Sec is dry-farmed and was certified organic in 2000. As a member of the Deep Roots
coalition, Raney does not irrigate. Mentored by Burgundian winemakers, Henri Jayer and Michel
Niellon, Raney crafts wines that emphasize elegance, restraint and terroir.
In July 2010, Russ and Mary Raney sold Evesham Wood to Erin and Jordan Nuccio of Haden Fig
Wines. Erin has worked at Evesham Wood since 2007 and given that Raney will continue to consult,
Erin believes that, ”Nothing will change since our winemaking and vineyard management
philosophies are virtually identical.”
