Given that Italy’s foremost food-and-wine magazine, Gambero Rosso, anointed it a Tre Bicchieri (3 Glasses) winner, and its wonderfully affordable pricepoint, we’re expecting the virtually unsung Negroamaro grape to build some new fanbase with this wine. Bing cherry, wild herbs and dark red fruit dominate the bouquet. On the palate, cherry, rhubarb and cranberry come through, complemented with baking spices & a hint of smokiness. Twelve months in a mix of new and old oak, followed by another two years bottle ageing make for a supple complement to, amongst many other possibilities, an antipasti board of salumi & hard cheeses.
