Wine Advocate 91 points - The deep golden, almost amber color reminds me of the 1983 in its youth. Orange marmalade, creme brulee, browned butter, and smoke emerge from the relatively complex, attractive, and full-bodied 2000. Exhibiting tremendous density, good acidity, and loads of fruit and botrytis, it is a strong candidate for the wine of the vintage in Sauternes. Anticipated maturity: 2005-2018. (Apr 2003)
Bright golden-yellow. Pure but brooding nose offers cherry-almond, vanillin oak and some honeyed high tones; rather dominated by its oak element today. Then generous, fat, sweet and full in the mouth, with a distinctly glyceral quality leavened by ripe, nicely integrated acidity. Big, rich and large-scaled but a bit youthfully monolithic today. Finishes suave, seamless and very long, with a slight tannic edge and a lingering flavor of apricot preserves. This wine will need time to show its complexity.
