It can be argued that Albariño is the great white grape of Spain, and this wine is a fine example. The Bodegas La Val Albariño comes from estate grown 20+ years old vineyards located in Galicia in the northwest corner of Spain. The La Val vineyards are, however, in southern Galicia where the climate is unusually sunny and dry producing wines with heightened power and finesse. There is no oak aging and the wine remains on the fine lees until May/June of the year following harvest. Straw yellow in color with greenish hints, the appearance of this wine in the glass is clean and brilliant. The nose shows a full range of aromas including ripe apple, peach, melon, citrus fruits, and floral tones. The finish is dry and persistent with fruit and spice accents. Increasingly popular, Albariño is your go to wine for all seasons and will pair well with fish, shellfish, chicken and roast turkey.
