It is nothing short of amazing that a wine of this quality, fashioned from 100 + year old vines, is available at
this price. So expressive of the south of France this blend of 80% Grenache Blanc and Grenache Gris along with
20% younger vine Roussanne has remarkable depth and richness. Medium bodied but broad on the palate, this
wine shows elements of stone fruits, orange blossom, salinity with an understated mineral/acid finish. Round
and fat enough to pair with oily fish like halibut or salmon this is also an excellent partner for lobster or seafood
stews – a classic pairing would be bouillabaisse. Vignerons and winemakers Jean-Marc and Eliane Lafage
farm 160 hectares of vines located just south of the capital of French Catalonia, Perpignan. The vineyards,
situated a few kilometers from the Mediterranean, are old, organically farmed and produce outstanding fruit.
All the grapes are hand harvested, fermented under cool temperatures and left on the lees for 20 days then
aged 70% in tank to preserve the beautiful fruit and 30% in barrel to add depth and complexity. Stunning
wine for the price!
