We continue to be amazed by the quality and remarkably reasonable prices of certain
Bordeaux wines we discover in our newsletter tastings. Château Barrail Meyney is yet another.
About 5 miles from St.-
, the Château lies just outside the St.-
we dare be so bold to say that one definitely can taste the influence of the area’s terroir. It is
80% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Franc and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon, estate-grown fruit, bottled at
the chateau. It has a beautiful, dark, dense color and a pretty, ripe aroma which is reflected on
the palate. It has an abundance of fresh, juicy, currant-like fruit; it’s very clean and cheery;
straightforward, with good structure; a wine to drink young for its fruit and accessibility;
again, all at a remarkably reasonable price.
