Crisp and toasty nose, this wine shows beautiful citrus and green apple fruit with a supple, yet lively mouth feel of very fine bubbles and a very clean finish.
Wine Spectator 87 points - There’s a savory edge to the apple pastry, ginger and almond cream flavors in this well-cut and focused cava. The mouthwatering finish is tinged with smoke and nut notes. Drink now through 2015. 300,000 cases made. –AN  (Dec 31 2011)

Jaume Serra, the winery behind Cristalino, was founded in 1943 by enologist Jaume Serra Guell. It is located in the Garraf subdivision of Penedes, in Catalonia. Chardonnay, Macabeo, Parellada and Xarello are grown on Jaume Serra’s El Padruel estate vineyards in the Alt Penedes, near the town of Vilanova y la Geltru, 31 miles south of Barcelona. In addition to their estate grown grapes, the winery has established long-term contracts with 15 other growers in Penedes. By law, Cava must be made in the traditional method and must age for a minimum of nine months on its lees before release. The winery takes the extra step of importing their yeast from Champagne, France to impart the finest quality to their Cavas.
Technical notes
(50% Macabeo/35% Parellada/15% Xarello). The wine matured on the less for 18 months.

Jaume Serra was founded in 1943 by distinguished enologist Jaume Serra Guell. It is located in the Garraf subdivision of the Denominacion de Origen Penedes, the largest wine growing area in Catalonia. The winery is situated on the 300-acre El Padruel estate and shares the landscape with the famous 17th-century fortress of the same name in the Mediterranean coastal town of Vilanova y la Geltru, some 50 kilometers south of Barcelona. Over the years, the fortress on the estate has played an historical role in navigating the Mediterranean Sea as well as in the Spanish civil war.
