Marques de Caceres Rioja Vendimia Seleccionada is the new name for the crianza we have been familiar with all these years. The wine is 85 percent Tempranillo and 15 percent Graciano and Mazuelo, and is still vinified in the Bordeaux method by superstar enologist Michel Rolland. The wine is aged in barrel for 18 months and stored in bottle for two years before release, so it can be enjoyed at the time of purchase. The wine has constantly improved, vintage after vintage. We have sold this wine for almost twenty years and have never hesitated to recommend it.
Henri Forner and his daughter Christine understand that consistently good quality takes a lot of work and effort. The winemaking begins in the vineyard with the growers. Henri has established a long-term relationship with select growers, forming the Union Viti-Vinicola. The wine is medium-bodied with bright fruit, leather and round oaky tannins. We have found it to be very approachable, without being wimpy. A great bargain for customers who have always loved it, and a perfect opportunity for someone who has never tried it before to pick up a bottle or two.
